A few tips before looking for somewhere to stay:

  • Try not to book a hotel when there are conferences and important shows on in the city, since it will turn out to be very difficult to find a hotel with a free room and the prices will be very expensive.
  • It doesn’t matter if the hotel is not right in the centre of the city. The prices in the centre are always more expensive. If you book a hotel in another area of the city, you’ll find better prices and it will be more peaceful. For example, we found a four star hotel a bit further from the centre for the same price of a two or three star hotel in the centre of the city.
  • Make sure that you have an underground station near the hotel. Otherwise, when you want to move around Barcelona, you’ll have to walk more and sightseeing will be more difficult, since the monuments are very far one from the other. If you don’t have an underground station nearby, you’ll have to get a taxi and it will be very expensive.

Finding an accommodation at a decent price. Three options:

The accommodation prices in Barcelona are not too expensive, but, there are many differences between seasons. We show you three options according to your budget.

A hotel in a peaceful part of the city:
For us, it’s the best option. It normally costs around €60 per person per day, breakfast included. During high season, you might have to pay €80. The best way to find a good hotel is visiting an on-line hotel reservation site, since they always have special offers and the prices are always cheaper than the hotel’s official prices.

A guesthouse, boarding house, Bed & Breakfast:
It’s a bit cheaper than a hotel. It’s worth it if you want to stay in the centre of the city at a reasonable price. If not, the best thing you can do is book a hotel.

Rent an apartment for a few days:
This option is becoming more and more popular, especially for groups. It’s the cheapest option. You can rent a totally furnished apartment, situated in the centre of the city for a good price. The price varies depending on the apartment; a standard flat for four people can cost €30 to €35 per person per day.

The main advantage is that the stay is cheaper since you can eat in everyday.
