Tarragona

The city of Tarragona, in the south of Catalonia, is the capital of the province of the same name. It is about an hour’s drive from Barcelona. You can also get there by train since there is a train that departs from Sants station every few hours.

Tarragona’s amphitheatre.
Tarragona especially stands out thanks to its archaeological settings of Roman ruins, which were declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. Some of its places of interest are: Old part of the city, the Roman amphitheatre, the central market and the so-called Balcón del Mediterráneo ( The Mediterranean Balcony), situated at the end of the Ramblas.

Very close to the city of Tarragona we can find the theme park Port Aventura (We can also get there by train from Barcelona). It is famous for having the first rollercoaster with eight inverted loops: the Dragon Kahn. Visit Port Aventura and enjoy it!

Sitges

Sitges.
The city of Sitges is situated only 36km south of Barcelona, in the Garraf Coast. It has a very important tourist infrastructure and three leisure harbours.

The seafront Palace of Maricel, situated between streets that still maintain the aspect of a historic town, is worth visiting. Sitges also has many modernist buildings, like Museo del Cau Ferrat (Cau Ferrat Museum) and Museu Maricel (MaricelMuseum).

Girona

The city of Girona is situated in the north of Catalonia and it’s an hour’s drive from Barcelona. You can also get there by train. A train leaves from Passeig de Gràcia every few hours during the day.

The old part of the city is enclosed by a wall. You can see the city walking along the Passeig Arqueològic and the Passeig de la Muralla, where there is a beautiful viewpoint over the city. Among the medieval streets stands out the Jewish Quarter, El Call, where a small community lived there until the end of the 15th century. It’s one of the best conserved medieval centres of Europe.
