One of the most famous and enjoyable activity in Venice is to take a tour on a gondola. Every person who travels to Venice must take a tour on a gondola across Venice channels. But before start searching for a gondola you must know:

There are 2 types of gondolas.
There are lovely gondolas, very well decorated and cared, with nice seats and sometimes with flowers. And there are the ones which are more simple, not as lovely as the other ones. Usually the price is higher when renting the first type of them.

There are two types of tours/promenades.
The ones with serenata and the ones without it. It’s commonly said that some “gondolieri” sing a serenata while they promenade you. But this is not really true since they will increase the price if you wish a tour with serenata. If you want a tour with serenate, the best option is to book a tour in the tourism office, where they’ll give you information of the special tours on gondola.

You must haggle. Finding a good price takes time.
In general, making a tour on a gondola is expensive. But you must search a lot and ask different “gondolieri” how much is a tour. A tour of 50 minutes on the lovely gondolas costs an average of 100 € and of 30 minutes 60 €. For the more simple ones, the promenade costs an average of 80 € for 50 minutes.

The prices are higher at night.
As it is getting dark, the “gondolieri” increase their prices. Although making the tour at night can be an excellent option if you are a couple, because of the romanticism and all that, it’s better to make the tour in the afternoon, before eight o’clock, since the prices are more reasonable.

Sharing the gondola with other people is cheaper.
If you don’t mind sharing the tour with other people, it could be a nice option in order to pay less for the tour. There can be up to 6 people on the same gondola!

The Ramblas of Barcelona is a very tourist point and we can say that it’s considered one of the main attractions of the city. The aim of this article is to set a complete route of the Ramblas, with Catalonia Square as the starting point, where you’ll be able to point out the main attractions of this part of the city of Barcelona.

Catalonia Square
Plaça Catalunya is widely considered to be the nerve centre of the city, since it has become like a meeting point for almost everybody. In Catalonia Square, do not miss the enormous quantity of pigeons, they will surprise you!

The Canaletas Fountain
The official meeting point of all Barcelona Football Team supporters (Futbol Club Barcelona). Built  during the 19th Century, it is probably the most famous fountain of Barcelona due to its relation to the celebration of its victories. As tradition states, if you drink water from it, you’ll come back to Barcelona sooner or later.

Human Statues
Maybe one of the most meaningful and eye-catching things you can enjoy in Barcelona. Human Statues have become a symbol of the Ramblas, since there are a lot of people that try their luck by showing others their ability to stay still, just like a statue. And if you give them a coin, they will probably move!

The Boqueria Market
It’s the most imoprtant and most beautiful market in Barcelona. It stands out thanks to its modern architecture, based on jonic columns, metal pillars and its stained glass-windows. In The Boqueria, with its more than 300 stands, you’ll find the most amazing things you’ve ever seen.

The Liceu
Built in 1845, this theatre is considered one of the most prestigious theatres in the world, specially due to its operas, which are known wordwide.

Plaza Real (Real Square)
Situated on the left hand side of the Ramblas, it has become another important meeting point of the city. The square is full of restaurants and bars, where you can sit and have a drink. The two streetlamps in the middle were designed by Antoni Gaudí.

The Erotic Museum
This museum, dedicated to eroticism, won’t stop surprising you. Here you’ll find curious information about the theme, illustrated with pictures, objects and drawings.

Wax Museum
The Barcelona Wax Museum is a very entertaining museum which is located almost at the end of the Ramblas. In the museum you’ll find more than 300 figures of historical and famous people made out of wax.

At this point, you’ll have reached the end of The Ramblas and you will probably have seen the most magical, surprisingly and original part of the city of Barcelona.

Han sido 8 días fabulosos. Salimos el pasado domingo por la mañana de Girona, cogimos una pequeña carretera por la costa y empezamos nuestro camino hacía Mónaco.

Nuestra intención era comentar día a día nuestro viaje, pero al final del día estábamos agotados y decidimos que era mejor coger notas para preparar una buena guía y al volver contarlo todo con más calma.

Los tres primeros días los dedicamos a recorrer la región del Llenguadoc. Visitamos pequeños pueblos encantadores que íbamos encontrando por la ruta cómo Pézenas, Sête, Aigues-Mortes,… y también las principales ciudades de las cuáles nos gustaron especialmente Montpellier y Nîmes.

Estuvimos a punto de no visitar Montpellier, pero por suerte entramos en la ciudad y quedamos sorprendidos con su parte histórica y su grandísima plaza. Como curiosidad en Montpellier hay la universidad más antigua de medicina de Europa.

En Nîmes la Torre Magna y sus jardines son el sitio ideal para ir a hacer un pícnic.
Los días siguientes los pasamos en la Costa Azul: Marsella, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Niza y Mónaco. Marsella fue un poco decepcionante y en Saint-Tropez no vimos a ningún famoso. Pero al llegar a Cannes quedamos estupefactos, estaba a rebosar de gente riquísima! Incluso había un yate con helicóptero! El paseo estaba lleno de playas privadas y nosotros como no, nos dimos el capricho de cenar en uno de los restaurantes de la playa (Rado Plage), muy recomendable!

Niza, sin duda alguna, es la California de Europa. Una playa preciosa y muy bien preparada para el turismo. Lo más increíble fue la cantidad de restaurantes que había, en nuestra vida habíamos visto tantos sitios distintos para ir a comer.

Y, al día siguiente, finalmente… llegamos a Mónaco! Podemos definirla como la ciudad que puso la guinda al viaje. La riqueza de este pequeño país es sinigual. La ciudad estaba llena de Ferraris, Bugatis, Lamborginis… Espectacular. Antes de marcharnos fuimos al Gran Casino, lo perdimos todo, como no! Pero valió la pena, todo el Casino era una gran obra de arte.

La vuelta la hicimos toda por autopista, en 5 horas y media estábamos otra vez en casa, listos para empezar a redactar la guía de viaje! En pocas semanas la tendremos colgada en la web. Mientras tanto aquí dejamos algunas de las mejores fotos del viaje:

Lo más complicado es comenzar. Comenzar un viaje, comenzar una guía, un blog…

Hace años empezamos a viajar, cuatro concretamente. Primero por España, luego por Europa y hace un mes volvimos de Marrackech. Primero hacíamos un viaje al año, ahora hacemos 4, cada año uno más. Viajar es un vicio!

Hace 4 meses hicimos nuestra primera guía de viaje. Aprovechando la inspiración de un viernes por la tarde escribimos una guía sobre venecia. Queríamos algo diferente, una guía hecha por amantes del viaje, con consejos prácticos y útiles que ayudara al resto de viajeros durante su estancia en Venecia. La guía gustó, nos animamos e hicimos tres guías más siguiendo el mismo estilo de otros sitios en que habíamos estado: Cerdeña, Roma y Barcelona.
