Costa Smeralda
Costa Smeralda is located in the north-east part of Sardinia. If your flight is landing in Alghero, the best option to get till Costa Smeralda is to rent a car in the same airport and, after spending some days in Alghero, cross the island by car till arriving to Costa Smeralda. The distance is of 150 km, more or less, that you can do in a half day journey.
The journey

Las aguas cristalinas de la Costa Esmeralda.
The journey by car from one point to the other is a very nice one, because it allows you to know the interiors of the island and enjoy a very beautiful landscape, a different one from the one in Alghero area. One of the most surprising things of the journey is to realise that you won't find any other car on the road. Furthermore, the interior of the island isn't much constructed, and not much inhabited.
The most beautiful in Costa Smeralda are its beaches of cristalline and very neat waters, they're spectacular! If you are going to rent a car, stop in any of the beaches your are going to find on the road and make a bath, it's worthy!
The biggest city in this area is Olbia, that it also has an airport, where a lot of flights arrive from a lot of parts of Europe, specially from Italy.s
Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo
Close to Olbia you'll find the most chic cities in Sardinia, which we can summarise on two of them: Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. These cities were constructed during the 60's by important enterprises, and they are visited by important arab magnates and international VIPs belonging to the world of spectacles, politics or music.
The Nuraghi
In this part of the island, and specially on the Olbia surroundings, you'll find a vast quantity of the famous nuraghi, En esta zona de la isla, y especialmente en los alrededores de Olbia, encontrarás gran cantidad de los llamados nuraghi, constructions of worked stone, belonging to Bronze or the Iron Era. These constructions, always in a tour form, were used as a military buildings to watch. They are interesting, although some times you'll have to walk several metres. Furthermore, some times they're difficult to find because some of them are located in isolated places.

Maddalena islands
Another activity that you can perform in the island is a boat trip to the Maddalena islands. There are several companies that offer boat trips leaving from the Olbia harbour, and the trip lasts almost all day. It's interesting, otherwise you could not be able to know the marvellous beaches and coves of this island. Furthermore, you'll be able to take a bath in these cristalline waters, and with the price they include a little lunch, although it is a simbolic lunch!
The only inconvenience is that, although there is a guide that explains you the most interesting points, he only speaks in Italian, well, in fact he speaks in Sardinian language, so if you don't speak Italian, you won't understand anything!
Il Capo Testa
Close to Santa Teresa di Gallura, at only 10 km., you will find Il Capo Testa, a magnific granite formation, that it's surprising for the form of its stones, spit out by the waves of the sea. Don't miss the sunsets surrounded by these beautiful stones, they are spectacular!
