The best time to visit Sardinia is, with any doubts, during the summer time. The best attraction in Sardinia are its beaches and coves, that's why travelling to Sardinia in winter can be a little bit boring, unless you are looking for a relaxing and quiet holidays.

Furthermore, Sardinia is still an undiscovered island, where tourists come mostly from the closest italian cities. Tourists from other nationalities aren't plentiful in the island, that's why if you are travelling during summer time you won't find much agglomerations. Although it can sound surprising, you can cross the island from west to east withouth finding almost with any other car. Maybe this is the charm of Sardinia: its virgin beacheas, not exploited, where tourism is not its main landscape.

How many days should I spend in Sardinia?

It depends on your intention: if you only want to visit Alghero and the east coast, three or four days will be enough. But if you decide to visit all the island, or to cross it and get to Costa Smeralda, the most advisable is to spend a week or so.

Alghero city is worth visiting, it's very charming. But you musn't miss the east coast, with Costa Smeralda region and its smart cities, like Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo.

How much is it going to cost me?

Sardinia is not an expensive island. We could say that in general the prices are very similar than in Spain when talking about restaurants and accommodations. However, it is very important to make a detailed budget of restaurants, accommodation and extra spendings. With a detailed budget, and if you follow it, Sardinia won't be expensive.

Howeer, the most expensive in Sardinia is renting a car, which is essential if you decide to cross the island.
